The Brazilian wonder boy Filipe Toledo defeated Wade Carmichael in the final at Barrinha’s wedging rights. The win was Filipe's sixth Championship Tour (CT) event victory of his career. In the final Toledo put the Australian in a combination situation with a near-perfect 9.93 point wave and then backed it up with a 7.17. He was the most in-form surfer of the entire event. Toledo celebrated his win surrounded by family, friends, and fans. With the win being more emotional, as 2 days prior his wife Ananda, gave birth to their second child. The win propelled Filipe from 9th to 2nd in the standings, in a year where he eventually finished 3rd.
